Uganda mourns the untimely death of Woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala constituency, Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, who breathed her last on 19 April 2026.
According to reports surrounding the politician, she has been experiencing health challenges that required a medical surgery.
Over the weekend, she underwent a medical procedure at Alexandro Medical Center in an effort to alleviate the medical challenges.
Following the procedure, unfortunately, the patient failed to wake up from anesthesia, despite numerous efforts by medical experts to save her life.
Hon. Hellen Nakimuli’s body is currently lying lifeless at Mulago Mortuary, where it was taken for postmortem amid grief and sorrow from her supporters and fellow politicians.

Sharing a tentative burial arrangement, Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of Uganda, Joel Ssenyonyi, revealed that the body will be transported to Kalangala district, which she has been representing in parliament.
This will be followed by a district council meeting tomorrow, 21 April 2026, in honor of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, and on Wednesday morning, 22 April 2026, her body will be received at Parliament to pay tribute to the deceased.

After the parliament session, the body will be transported to the NUP party headquarters, where party members will pay their last respects.
A vigil will follow in the evening at her parents’ home in Namungoona, and on Thursday morning, 23 April 2026, a funeral service will be held at the Orthodox church in Namungoona.
The body will be subsequently transported to the burial grounds in Luwero district, where she will be laid to rest in her eternal home.
