Kampala deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the matter is under probe.
AIGP Asan Kasingye, the Chief Political Commissar has meanwhile pledged that officers in charge of Entebbe will face disciplinary action over the matter.
In a tweet on Monday, Kasingye said: “I feel bad. This is just a kilometre from my residence. Christmas beach fatalities in Entebbe every single year could have been avoided this time round. Our territorial commanders know this well & disciplinary action is right in order. May our neighbor Kaweesi RIP.”
“The matter is now being investigated to establish the culprits behind the opening of the beach, since it is a restricted area under the Ministry of Health guidelines on COVID-19.
This includes the area territorial commanders who happen to have exhibited unprofessional behavior.
The public should know that all beaches are still restricted and we calls for strict adherence,” Owoyesigyire said.
