In what has turned out to be the new normal on the rampant murders of women in Katabi Town Council, Sarah Nakintu Nakajjo, a 32 year old resident of kyazi Bukasa zone in Nkumba-Bufulu who had been missing for close to four days was on Friday discovered naked and dead in a thick bush just a few meters away from Eco Resort in Kasenyi where her body was dumped.
According to the deceased’s estranged husband identified as Godfrey Mayanja, he disclosed that he last saw her on Tuesday when she came to his residence in Kitawulizi zone, Nkumba Bufulu at around 8pm seeking financial assistance for their seven months old son.
Mayanja disclosed that on Thursday he decided to visit Sarah Nakintu’s residence after news began spreading around the area that she had abandoned her five children in the house and her whereabouts unknown. He rushed to Kasenyi Police Post to report that she had mysteriously gone missing while other concerned residents made public announcements around the area that she had gone missing. The deceased’s body was discovered on Friday by a resident who had gone to dig in his sweet potato garden.
Unlike in the previous five murder incidents of women, Sarah Nakintu’s body had several deep cuts on the chest and head. Her killers also forced sticks into her throat and private parts. The Entebbe Police OC CIID Zachariah Mbabazi confirmed that the deceased was killed as a ritual sacrifice because some of her body parts including eyes, heart, breast were found missing.
Three suspects Godfrey Mayanja the deceased’s estranged husband and Ssalongo John Bwanika both witch doctors in the area and who are very close friends and another yet to be identified suspect were arrested because sources revealed that the deceased visited Ssalongo John Bwanika’s shrine to get medicine for his child who was suffering from cough. The body of the deceased was taken to Mulago Hospital.
Zachariah Mbabazi said that the trio will help police in their investigations. He appealed to women and girls to desist from walking alone in the night because they are soft targets. He urged residents to always avail information to Police regarding the suspected criminals and wrong doers in the area.
