Residents of Kabaale A, Tadeo Zone in Katabi Town Council are in grief and coming to terms with the death of their own, identified as Jamiru Damba, a fisherman operating at the Kitubuulu Landing site who committed suicide. Damba’s body was found hanging on the roof-bar in his mother’s house, on Friday afternoon, barely one day after a 12-year-old pupil in Kiwafu west, Division ‘B’ Entebbe Municipality hanged himself in a similar Manner.
According to Mr. Abdallah Juma the area councilor disclosed that the deceased was a fisherman operating at the Kitubulu landing site in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District, and was known for not using drugs or alcohol.
“Damba had lent his national ID to a friend to use for registering a sim card and unfortunately, that friend was later arrested in a murder related case. Yesterday when he met his friends, they teased and joked around with him that he was on Police’s wanted list but I’m not sure whether it’s the reason he has committed suicide,” narrated Mr. Juma.

Another childhood friend to the deceased, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Damba was a half-child in the home of the late Yusuf and in most cases he felt sidelined in the family matters.
“I cannot confirm that this is what prompted Jamiru Damba to hang himself, but he used to confide in me on several occasions that his family members and relatives never took most of his opinions and ideas seriously,” revealed the source.
All the relatives who were at home by the time Damba committed suicide were taken to record statements at Entebbe police Station thus they could not be got for a comment by press time.
After a thorough investigation at the scene and full examination of the body, Police led by the Scene Of Crime Officer (SOCO) Joseph Ngabirano revealed that Jamiru Damba hanged himself. He gave the relatives a clearance to bury the body.
