A 29 year old witch doctor identified as Christopher Kyaligonza a resident of Bukolwa-Kavundira village, Nkumba zone in Katabi Town Council is cursing like hell and breathing behind bars in Mpala Police cells after he was arrested on Monday over beating up and stabbing a one Matayo Atangwireho (43 years) also a witch doctor in the area. Sources at the scene disclosed that the two witch doctors were rivaling and battling for ‘spiritual powers’ or ‘Empeewo zaba Jajja’ when Kyaligonza was suddenly attacked and filled with spirits and started acting mad in addition to threatening his colleague.
Matayo claims that he tried to calm Kyaligonza down but he was overpowered and ended up being beaten with a stick and stabbed with a spear in the left ear during the bloody fight and started oozing blood. Locals who witnessed the fight indicated that they intervened in the fight and saved Matayo from being killed. They (locals) disclosed that they tied up Kyaligonza and notified police which rushed to the scene and arrested Kyaligonza while Matayo was immediately rushed to a clinic for first Aid and treatment.
Job Ekwang, the Acting Mpala Police OC Station confirmed the arrest of Christopher Kyaligonza and was charged with assault under SD Ref 20/26/06/2017. Ekwang revealed that Kyaligonza will be taken for a mental check up and once the results confirm he is of sound mind he will be taken to court. He added that once the results prove he is insane, he will be taken to Butabika Hospital for treatment. Ekwang also disclosed that Kyaligonza’s rented apartment was full of weird ‘Juju’ stuff.
