    The 2015 Castle Lite national beach volleyball championship successfully concluded with the fourth and last circuit of the year on Sunday at Lido beach in Entebbe.

    Bar the overall winners, the fourth circuit stars were the revelation pairings of Allan Ssemanda / Nicholas Esegu, Lionel Mugisha / Ronald Kitosi, Shilla Buyungo and Maureen Mwamula.

    In the women event, usual suspects, Christine Alupo and Peace Busingye won the fourth successive title of the year when they defeated Sharon Pajije and Vivian Adeke in straight sets.

    An excited Alupo thereafter attested to Kawowo Sports about the victory path;

    We have a great team chemistry with each other, though the competition to say the least had slightly declined because of the fewer teams

    In the men’s category, Emma Kato and Nicholas Dheyongera lifted their season second silverware against Dickens Otim and Isaac Omedo in an exciting duel.

    Otim/Omedo broke the ice bag winning the opening set 23-21 before Kato and Dheyongera rallied back to win 21-14 and eventually 16-14 in the decider.

    For the victory, Kato climbed from seed three status to number two whilst Otim maintained the top spot,in spite of bagging the silver.

    The castle lite sponsored annual championship attracted a total of 21 men’s and 17 women’s teams providing a good outlay for the federation technical team to earmark the national squad for the December games.

    Uganda Volleyball President, Sadik Nasiwu, presided over the closing ceremony where top performers from the quarter final stage were rewarded with varying cash prizes before the winners picked their trophies.

    Nasiwu observed;

    The circuits presented a good collection of great games as players showcased ably ahead of the Castle Lite International in the first weekend of December 2015. Even teams that commenced from the qualification round showed character climbing into the top four echelons.

    Uganda will host the castle lite international beach volleyball open on the 5th and 6th December 2015 at Lido beach, Entebbe.
