A 44 year old Nigerian citizen identified as Okoye Michael Uche has been languishing at the Entebbe Airport Aviation police cells since Saturday after he was nabbed trying to smuggle cocaine to Italy. The fella was nabbed in the check-in area while he was checking in his baggage and ready to board Ethiopian Airlines on Saturday July 18 en route to Italy where he resides. According to police cops the fella was arrested after he started fidgeting around the check-in area in addition to refusing to be screened and his baggage. The fella started making lots of uncoordinated statements which made police cops to conclude that he was smuggling some prohibited items. The fella was manhandled and screened by force. Police discovered that he had swallowed 66 pellets of cocaine and where in his tummy. He was forced to defecate them. He was immediately arrested and charged with being in Possession of Narcotic drugs under case registration number AVPOL CRB195/2015, Passport no. A05537571. Aviation Police commandant Lodovick Awita revealed that the fella will be taken to court and sentenced.
Police also revealed that he is the fifth Nigerian to be arrested at Entebbe Airport over smuggling narcotic drugs and he is the sixth person to be arrested over smuggling narcotic drugs. Early this year in February a one Valenty Rogers was arrested after he swallowed drugs inform of liquids which burst in his tummy and died shortly after arriving at Mulago Referral Hospital. His body was flown back to Guyana where he had originated from.
