
Entebbe Golf Club was the place to be on Saturday as 16 Golfers battled in the third round of the now popular Singleton Golf match play Challenge. After a tedious and pain staking round of Golf Paul Nsereko and his ‘Kabalaza’ Golf Buddy Enock Nuwagaba knocked out Jude Ochieng and Alex Nkuyahaga 5/4, Jadu Patel teamed up with Anthony Agaba to thump Mark Kaddumukasa and Peter Mukiibi pair 4/3. The two winning pairs earned themselves vouchers that will see them enjoy a round of Golf at the state of the art Serena Golf Course come April 11, 2017. Alan Muhereza and Moses Matsiko pair also progressed to the fourth round after they beat the only female pair 3/2 comprising of Irene Nakalembe and Moureen Okura. Muhereza and Matsiko earned themselves fire extinguishers courtesy of Pinnacle security however out of good sportsmanship Matsiko and Muhereza donated their respective fire extinguishers to Nakalembe and Okura.
In his own words Matsiko lauded Nakalembe and Okura for putting up a stiff challenge while they were on the course. Dan Kajungu and Collins Nuwagira saw off Jerry Owachi and George Nkya 2/1 while Kiryowa Kiwanuka and his partner in crime Elly ‘Sober’ Mukasa earned their third walk over and advanced to the fourth round after Vincent Katutsi and Harry Hakiza pair didn’t show up.

It was no easy feat for Ray Kahiigi/Ibra Bagalana pair, Moses Ssebugwawo/Emmanuel Mugabi pair and John Muchiiri/Isaac Mariera pair who defeated their rival pairs Denis Onyango/Andrew Ankunda, David Balaka/Nkambwe .G and John Kato/Phillip Ssebaale pair on the first hole Sudden death challenge respectively.
With a Shs12m stake from event sponsors Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) the professionals participated in their Inaugural Singleton Professionals Match Play Challenge.
Fred Wanzala saw off Gerald Kabuye 2/1, Herman Mutawe beat Opio Onito 1-up, Phillip Kasozi eased past Ocici Grace 4/2, Denis Anguyo edged George Olayo 4/3, and Henry Lujja gave way to Dickson Lagoro to progress to the next round after he was beaten 3/1. Abbey Bagalana and Vincent Byamukama beat their rivals Saidi Mawa and Peter Sendaula on the first hole Sudden death respectively. Pros Captain Deo Akope earned his sweet walk over.

This time round all Golfers descended on the 19th hole in an ALL WHITE PARTY dress code and washed down their throats with Singleton whiskey. The fourth round of the singleton Golf Challenge will be held April 15, 2017.
