Producer, singer, and songwriter Zulitums has reflected on the depression he suffered that inspired the writing of his hit single ‘Oluvanyuma’.
While music lovers enjoyed the song and dedicated it to their loved ones because of the soothing melodies and lyrics, Zulitums revealed he wrote it from a place of pain and loneliness.
Born Ssemwogerere Sam, Zulitums broke down the song and attached meaning to the lyrics. He revealed that the song was about his real-life journey. Being close to his mother, Zulitums explained that some lines described how far they have come and his desire to give her the whole world.
He revealed that, at the time he wrote the song, his management had restricted him from seeing his mother often. For the few times he did so, he had first to seek permission to leave the house.
He was also not allowed visitors at his home, and the few close friends who came by only came for music-related issues, not personal ones. Even when he stepped out, Zulitums had to explain and give reasons why he was going.

My management restricted this because they said I had to pull away from the crowd. It wasn’t very clear because I had to seek permission to see my mother. And if they said no, then I would not go.
Those were the rules, and when you sign them, you have to abide by them. If they are your managers, they think they have your best interests at heart. I have gone through some things, and I cannot come here to talk about them,” he said.
