Minister of Works and Transport General Edward Katumba Wamala has ordered suspension of workers at the Uganda Airlines after a video surfaced of a man vending grasshoppers (Nsenene) on board one the carrier’s airliners.
The yet to be identified man was filmed by passengers dishing out the snacks to seated passengers in the economy class, from a large blue polythene bag.
“Its 10,000 shillings,” the man is heard shouting out to his customers, some lining up in the isle of the Airbus A330.
The video which quickly went viral, sparked outrage from members of the public.
A highly placed source has since informed this website that Minister Katumba Wamala was angered by the incident and decided to suspend “all those responsible for organizing the flight, except those in the cockpit.”
The Minister according to the source, described the incident as “terrible”.
It was not yet clear how many employees have been suspended.
Uganda Airlines was still tight-lipped on the matter.
An official who spoke anonymously to this website however, said the airline was drafting a statement on the matter.
