A woman identified as Faridah Babirye has been arrested for attempting to kill herself and attempting to cause the death of her two children.

Babirye, 47, was arrested by police officers at Nakiwogo, Entebbe Municipality after she threw her two children in Lake Victoria from a boat while crossing from Nakiwogo Landing Site to Buwaya in Kasanje Town council.

Babirye was arrested and to Nakiwogo police station, where she told officers that she was tired of living a life of hardship.  Babirye, a resident of Mutundwe in Katabi Town Council is said to be a single mother of the two children whose lives she attempted to end.

A source told URN that upon interrogation, Babirye said that she had never travelled to Buwaya, and did not know anyone there. This implies that she took the boat on purpose to end her life and that of her children.

Police officers are now reaching out to Babirye’s estranged spouse and other relatives to aid in investigations and take care of the children, whose health condition was not disclosed at the time of filing this story.
