The Democratic Party has vowed to reclaim its victory for the ‘mayorship’ seat that was snatched from us during the mayoral race in Entebbe.
“The democrats are committed and determined to reclaim their win via the courts of law after Mr. Fabrice Brad Rulinda grabbing it our candidate using the military forces”, says DP spokesperson.
He added that much as we are struggling to attain our seat (mayorship), but again the party is planning to regain its massive support as it used to be in 2011,2016 and come 2026 general elections.
The 2021 general elections in Entebbe, DP was able to perform highly despite the NRM party rigging machinery that grabbed our victories in Div ‘A’,Mayorship and some of our councilors especially in Division ‘A’ , which is predominantly a barracks constituency.
However the Democratic party managed to win over Division ‘B’ under Ssekyondo Richard in addition to his 78 councilors against 8 NRM&5 NUP councilors respectively.
In Division ‘A’ which is predominantly a barracks area the Democratic Party managed to get 6 councilors against 15 NRM &3 NUP.
At the center council, the Democratic Party managed to win over NRM under Kayanja Vicent Depaul with 9 councilors against 9 NRM AND 5 NUP respectively plus 02 independents.
It’s therefore imperative to note that despite the spontaneous wave that hit the DP in the concluded 2021 elections, the democratic party still commands support not only in Entebbe municipality but also in Entebbe sub district in general.
In Bbusi sub county for example, the sub county was painted green under DP’s Mukalazi as the sub county chairperson with 07 NRM,09 NUP and 01 independent councilors.
In Kajjansi town council the democratic party managed to win over NRM with 21 councilors against 8 NRM and 21 NUP councilors respectively.
In Katabi town council, DP got 16 councillors against 6 NRM and 20 NUP and 02 independents.
In Kasanje town council all most all democratic party candidates were misled and were nominated as NUP candidates and the entire town was painted ‘RED’against NRM.
Our preoccupation now is to put in place a functional party structures that will be in position to re-organise, mobilize, sensitize and recruit new members to replace those that defected to NUP because most of our leaders and members including Hon Kakembo Micheal Mbwatekamwa crossed to NUP barely two weeks to nomination, having dropped our flag in the soil which we lately picked and DP lost the MP seat.
At the defining moment, I would like to inform the entire nation DP members and supporters in particular that DP still commands massive support because our party is like a TREE and leaves fly- off but roots are trucked and branches remain to produce new leaves.
Therefore we are in the process of irrigating and fertilizing our ‘TREE’ so that our TREE (DP) produces more leaves and seeds thru reorganization, mobilization, sensitization, recruitment and publishing the good deeds that the party managed to undertake since 2006 up to 2026.
In conclusion therefore the Democratic Party call upon all those members that got ‘lost’ to other parties to rejoin and those that remained to be firm because the Democratic Party which formed in 1954 is here to stay despite spontaneous turbulence in Uganda.
However we shall not force anyone to remain in DP but also we shall not force them out of DP but again we shall encourage you join and love the party because of it’s good principles and values. May the lord bless our nation for TRUTH and JUSTICE.
