Lt. Franklin Ainomugisha Kwehangana (RO 9605) a UPDF Soldier has been crying crocodile tears and cursing why he was born to suffer in this world. This follows after he was caged in Kigo Prisons for close to three weeks after he issued false cheques amounting to Shs 69m to his business associate and close friend Dr. Barnabas Bakamutumaho. The shrewd UPDF Soldier on May 25th 2015 at Lake Victoria Hotel Entebbe issued false cheques to standard Chartered Bank Garden city branch cheque no. 000037, 000035, 000044 worth shs 69 Uganda shilling to pay Dr. Bakamutumaho from whom he had borrowed the money and was intending to venture into several business projects.
However when Dr. Bakamutumaho presented the cheques to the bank, he was told that the account no. 0102014489600 on which the cash was supposed to be withdrawn was closed in 2009 by the accused for unknown reasons. The complainant contacted the accused who started playing monkey tricks in addition to refusing to pick his calls over the matter. The matter was reported to Entebbe Police station and the crafty UPDF Soldier was arrested and charged with issuing false cheques under CRB 537/2015. He was granted bail on Wednesday last week and ordered to pay the cash in installments of Shs 23m after he pleaded guilty to all the charges. The case was adjourned till 31st August when court will officially mention the case.
