Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) under their parent company the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has donated a second 100,000 liters ground water tank to Entebbe General Hospital to curb on the hospital’s increasing demand for water. The 100,000 liters ground water tank was donated to Entebbe General Hospital on Tuesday by EABL Group Supply Chain Director Peter Vogtlander who said that the provision of safe and clean water to different communities in East Africa is the corner stone of East African Breweries Limited (EABL).
We as EABL are passionate about the provision of safe and clean water to different communities across East Africa. We have so far provided safe water to over 300 million people in East Africa of these, 3 million are Ugandans. We believe the 100,000 liters ground water tank will reduce on the water bills Entebbe General Hospital has been incurring, Vogtlander told the media during the ground breaking ceremony.
The Entebbe General Hospital Medical Supritendedant Dr. Paul Muwaga hailed the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) for rescuing the Hospital with a second 100,000 liters ground water tank which will greatly reduce on the utility bills that the Hospital is incurring.
We as Entebbe General Hospital are grateful to EABL for rescuing the Hospital with a second 100,000 liters ground water tank. The ground water tank will greatly reduce on the utility bills the Hospital is incurring”, Dr. Muwanga said.
He added
We appeal to Ministry of Health to increase the hospital’s budget because it has been the same for the last 10 years. The hospital consumes more water than what it pays. The Hospital is in arrears amounting to Shs 250m which it has failed to offset. We had to approach EABL for assistance because we use over 20,000 liters in a day to sterilize the equipment and clean the hospital.
Minister of State for Health in charge of General Duties hailed Uganda Breweries Limited for their generous support to Entebbe Hospital and said it will serve in addressing the water challenge the Hospital faces.
Last year EABL constructed a 100,000 liters ground water tank for the Hospital in the first phase of the project. The project is expected to be completed in two months by Tropical Afric Ventures Limited.
