
Hundreds of traders and vendors are bitter with the municipality authorities after making communication over the official opening of the new magnificent market in Entebbe.
The new market was officially opened by President Y.K. Museveni earlier this year during his campaign trail.
The new market has been delayed to officially open due to multiple’ office politics’ and it has taken a couple of months to officially open to public.
The traders started shifting their items plus perishables after a communication from the town clerk Charles Magumba on Tuesday afternoon.

The market authourities headed by Isabirye Marijan was tasked to relocate the traders and vendors last evening to the new market.
“Traders and vendors since last evening have been shifting their items and make shifts to the new market arena”, said source.
“The market authorities since last evening have been passing information to traders and vendors to relocate forcefully” , said another source.
The local authorities including the area LC 3 chairman Richard Sekyondo, LC 1 Betty Nkata plus others have sketchy information over the official opening of the new government owned market.
Traders are bitter with the municipal authourities after releasing official communication of the “silent” opening of the new market.
“The security guards around the new market have become a problem since morning and denying traders access to the market facility”,said angry trader.
“The iron sheet security ‘fence’ has not been removed from the market facility since the official communication and even the market authourities are confused like we plus buyers”, said another source.
We have not yet got any official communication from several local authourities including councilors and the mayor Fabrice Brad Rulinda to that effect.
The Market which was built under Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Programme (MATIP), has over 930 stalls plus kiosks, 3 cold rooms, 76 cooking stalls, a nursery school, public hall, banking hall, health club among others.
