It’s now official that travelers to Kalangala islands have a reason to smile with another privately owned passenger water vessel underway.
The MV NODL Victoria is yet to be launched and will operate alongside the existing MV Kalangala which the government acquired in 2005.
According to Mr Sadala Musoke, the Executive Director of National Oil Distributors Ltd (NODL), a firm that manages MV Kalangala, the new vessel has modern facilities with capacity to carry 200 passengers.
“The storied facility has latest state-of-the-art technology and luxurious with an executive lounge.
Our clients will receive high-class services only comparable to those offered in a plane,” he said during an interview.
The storied water vessel has different sitting arenas including a first class and second class to suit the customers’ demand with VIP treat.
The new vessel will be able to make several trips daily unlike the MV Kalangala which only leaves Entebbe in the afternoon and returns the following day.
“It will be taking less than two hours to sail from Entebbe to Kalangala and will also be used during rescue operations,” added CEO.
The new water vessel will promote the tourism potentiality in distant tourism sites including Bukasa and Kyamuswa where tourists fear to go due to unsafe means of transport,” said one Sebunya Sudais also senior officer on the MV Kalangala.
It will be an alternative in case of breakdown and substitute to the government owned vessel.
The new vessel is privately owned and marine experts from the International Register of Shipping have already inspected the vessel and approved its seaworthiness with modern facilities and capacity to carry 200 passengers on board.
