Taxi drivers operating under the Entebbe Liberty Taxi Operators Association And Traders on Wednesday morning bitterly clashed and exchanged blows Over Entebbe taxi park. The trouble started when taxi drivers blocked traders from accessing their business and forced special hire Taxis and other private vehicles to pay one thousand shillings (shs 1000/=) before accessing the taxi park. The taxi park authorities blocked the main gate and also charged every individual with a vehicle to pay. The traders who were charged up after they were blocked from accessing their business premises including shops, food restaurants and saloons, internet cafes and clinics. The rowdy taxi drivers almost lynched the municipal authorities including the Division ‘B’ Chairman Anthony Ssegujja and Municipal Town Clerk Joseph Kyabadde over poking their nose in their office affairs and activities. The town clerk suspended all the developments and warned the taxi park authorities not to take the law in their hands. He added that the municipal authorities have not yet authorized the taxi park authorities to charge every private vehicle accessing the taxi park.
