Survey training institute students last week protested over the institution’s continued poor administration. The students decided to call for a Guild council meeting which was chaired by the Guild president Charles Orena including the teaching staff. The meeting came after the entire Guild council paid a deaf ear to their concerns.
Some of the students whom our reporters talked to said that the institution hadn’t had a principal and the one who is currently acting as the principal hasn’t had an office to operate from because the keys were reportedly taken by the then principal Ochwai Pius who left the institute on 6th June 2012.
Led by Dan Masaba the students revealed that the institution doesn’t have a bank account after the stanbic account was closed. “It was closed because there was no clear person to manage the account”, Masaba stated.
Masaba added that stanbic bank account was entirely controlled by Pius Ochwai and now Bernard Oguro the acting Deputy Principal cannot access the accounts because the bank doesn’t know him.
“Therefore we need this bank issue resolved immediately” Masaba continued.
The students also revealed that they don’t have any document to show that they belong to survey training institute.”We even don’t have Identity cards to show that we are students of Survey training institute”, masaba stressed.
In the meeting they resolved to let Bernard Oguro serve as the Deputy Principal while Moses Mubiru will serve as principal of the institution until when the matters are fully resolved.
The chairman School governing council who has spent three months without appearing at the institute told entebbenews that the students should calm down adding that all matters will be fully resolved including the reopening of the bank accounts and recruitment of new staff.
