Enticing draws for the quarterfinal of the 47th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup were held at the FUFA House with mouthwatering fixtures for as Titans faceoff at this stage.
The draws were conducted by retired footballers Charles Ogwang the 1996 Uganda Cup winner with UMEME FC together with Sharif Samanya, a former Nile FC player who lost the finals to Ogwang in 1996.
The two record winners Express FC and KCCA FC face-off with the Red Eagles hosting first at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku before the Kasasiro boys host them in the return leg at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
One time winner Vipers SC will face nine time winners SC Villa with the Venoms hosting first at the St Mary’s stadium and the Jogoos hosting later at the Bombo Military Barracks Grounds.
Wakiso Giants face Police FC with the Purple Sharks hosting first while Proline awaits the winner between Kigezi Home Boys and Bul FC.
In his testimony Charles Ogwang admitted that he can not forget the goal he scored in the 1996 against Nile FC which gave his team victory.
‘I can not forget the goal I scored against Nile in the final, I also wore the armband that day because our Captain Eric Anyole didn’t feature due to Injury. I was also the top scorer of that edition with eight goals on my name’ Said Charles Ogwang.
Sharif Samanya the former Nile FC player said that one of the best moments in football is reaching the final and therefore he can nevr forget the 1996 final against UMEME FC.
The games will be played on a home and away basis and teams will straight away go for kicks from the penalty mark in case of a tie.
The quarterfinal fixtures are scheduled between 25th May – 2nd June 2021.
The final of this year’s edition will be hosted by Kitara region football association at the Masindi Municipal Stadium on Saturday, 24th July 2021.
