The Entebbe Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Rose Kirabira on Saturday halted eviction of over 100 sitting tenants by tycoon Patrick Muwanga Kijooje who claims the tenants illegally occupied his 17 hectares of land located in Gayaza LC1 zone, Sisa Sub County, Wakiso district. The disputed land is located on Block 411, plot 350 in Sisa Sub County.
RDC’s intervention followed a meeting held at the disputed land between Bijanja holders and the landlord Patrick Muwanga who wanted to evict the sitting tenants to redevelop the land.
The sitting tenants led by Juma Mulangira Kayiima told RDC Kirabira that they tried to pay lease (Busulu) to Mr. Patrick Muwanga but he adamantly refused the money saying all he wants is to vacate his 17 hectares of land.

RDC Kirabira advised the landlord Muwanga to first get a land title to prove that the disputed land belongs to him rather than evicting the sitting tenants without any proof of land ownership.
She asked the sitting tenants to continue carrying out activities on the disputed land but strongly cautioned them against selling it till the issues surrounding it are resolved.
She tasked Mr. Muwanga and the aggrieved sitting tenants to come to her office as soon as possible for a dialogue so as to resolve the protracted land dispute that is likely to culminate into bloodshed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Patrick Muwonge was not happy with the RDC’s decision to halt him from evicting the tenants but he promised to process the Land title to prove ownership of the disputed land.
