Comoros and Uganda are poised for an international friendly showdown at Stade de Marrakech on March 23rd at 12:30 am. In their respective last five matches, Comoros has thrived with a three-game winning streak, punctuated by one loss and one draw, while Uganda heads into the match with a two-game winning streak, despite enduring three losses in recent outings.
Historically, Uganda has triumphed in both prior encounters between the two teams, securing 1-0 victories on May 9th, 2015, and April 9th, 2016.
Paul Put, head coach of Uganda Cranes, emphasized the significance of the friendly match in the team’s preparation for upcoming engagements, especially the fixtures in June. He sees it as an opportunity for players who missed the initial two FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers to demonstrate their worth to the national team.
Ahead of the doubleheader, Uganda Cranes captain Bevis Mugabi noted the influx of new faces in the team and stressed the importance of utilizing this fixture to foster camaraderie and develop on-field chemistry. He also emphasized maintaining a positive mindset and viewing these friendly games as crucial preparation for June’s challenges.
In this fixture, Uganda Cranes will be without the services of Khalid Aucho and Abdul Aziizi Kayondo.
Myziane Maolida, forward for Scottish Premiership club Hibernian, has demonstrated his prowess by scoring in three of his last four club matches, solidifying his role as a key player for Comoros in this particular fixture, one that the Uganda Cranes should closely monitor.
