Uganda Police at Kasangati have in detention a woman who is alleged to have murdered her niece and dumped the body.
The suspect has been identified by Kampala Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire as Dota Nyirabahirwe and the deceased as Michelle Kasekende, who was only aged 2 years and 8 months.
Owiyesigire says the suspect proceeded to dump the body in Nagalama, Mukono where it was recovered by police.
“The body was recovered in a sack by Nagalama police and liaising with Kasangati the suspect was arrested,” he said.
“We have seen a rise in child torture in the recent past and we do urge members of the public to remain vigilant and help us identify adults that are engaging into these kind of criminal acts.”
The woman, he said has since been charged with murder.
