Cops at Entebbe police station on Thursday morning commenced the
campaign to clean and wipe out the worrying stinking garbage in
Entebbe town.
Led by Godfrey Ninsiima, the newly appointed Entebbe Divisional police
commander (DPC), Aggrey Isabirye(OC Station) and Joseph Sentamu
(Entebbe CIID boss), the hard working cops equipped with brooms, hoes
and spades combed off Entebbe Central Market and cleaned up all the
stinking garbage littered around the market in abide to promote good
sanitation in the area.
The clean up exercise was in preparation for police centenary
celebrations where police will celebrate 100years of existence and
service slated to take place on 3rd October 2014 at Kololo Independence
playgrounds.
Godfrey Ninsiima, the Entebbe Divisional Police Commander (DPC) told
the Media that the clean up exercise coded named “keep Entebbe town
tidy” was aimed at bringing Wanaichi(locals) closer to the police force, in
addition to identifying problems affecting people within the community
such that a remedy is provided.
He noted that the exercise is one of the symbols to show that police has
transformed from barbaric colonial policing to a modern policing system
which is user friendly to the natives.
He cautioned cops against extortions and soliciting bribes from
suspects in pretext of killing police files arguing that such vices
are unethical in the police force and whoever is nabbed shall serve
as a litmus test so as to deter the rest from doing the same.
