Uganda’s undisputed and finest musical icon started his musical career from grass to grace and today he commands much respect with discipline. His parent tamed him like a dog and was groomed in a God fearing family.
Our reporter, PEACOCK KAWEESA interviewed the proclaimed dancehall artist about his high school sweet memories and testimonies. Below is an exclusive up close with Peter Miles.
Who is Miles?
Peter Miles Kanyike, 35yrs was born to Mr. Emmanuel and Betty Kanyike in Entebbe. He was born in Entebbe Grade ‘B’ Hospital. He started his nursery school life at Queens Nursery School and thereafter proceeded to Lake Victoria school where he studied his P.1 to P.4. He then changed to Budo Junior primary school where he studied his P.5 to P.7 and completed his primary leaving examinations (PLE). He started his secondary school life at Bugema Adventist Secondary School where he studied his S.1 to S.3 before joining St Lawrence Citizen High School where he completed his S.4 and met both Christo Fabulous and Besigye Daniel popularly known as Menshan. He then proceeded to Kabojja International where he completed his A’level before joining Makerere University where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in tourism.

Peter Miles started and studied his S.1 class from Bugema Adventist Secondary School and was bullied on the first day in school. On the first day he missed the dormitory allocation and was allocated to sleep in the S.5 dormitory where big boys bullied him including forcing him to rap for them the bobby brown and vanilla ice rap songs. Rapping eventually helped him to build confidence and trust in the big- boys who also used to bully him to wash their dirty under wears and uniforms. In Bugema, he faced lots of challenges including studying half day with no afternoon classes. And after lunch, every student was required and expected to go for farm work before having supper and attending preps. Every student was expected to work for less than two hours in the school farm because farm work was part of the academic curriculum which helped him till to date to have an insight on farming and agriculture for food security. In the school, he became a darling to lots of students because he used to entertain them at school talent show and every night in the boy’s dormitory before retiring to sleep.
This started his musical career because every night he would mime different rap songs for the students. He made lots of friends in school and also joined the school choir with Juliana Kanyomonziand Iryn Namubiru. This was Miles’ turning point and since then he has never looked back including dating babes. The hunky Miles studied S.1 to S.3 without being suspended for any wrong doing although he loved pretty girls which he has contained up to now.
But to make matters worse before he finalized his S.4, he sneaked out of school to attend a Buju Banton musical concert at Lugogo cricket oval and reported back in school after 2am. He was netted by the school Askari while sneaking into the school premises in the middle of the night. He bribed the school Askari with only 5k to sneak into the school. Miles’ musical talent was discovered by his former school teacher, Mr. Kirya who discovered that he could play a piano and encouraged him to practice every other day during chapel time. Miles faced lots of challenges when he started his advanced level of education.
Trouble started from Kabojja International School where he was suspended after participating in a general strike over leaked exams. He was suspended by the school authorities after unidentified students commanded the strike and damaged lots of the school property after the school authorities cancelled the leaked exams by students. This looked like the end for Miles but he was later pardoned and warned over misbehaving and indiscipline. The ‘Nakutaka’ singer is one of the few Ugandan artists who have gone to school and fully attained formal education including feasting on posho and beans for the whole academic term without throwing stones at cooks who loved him and offered him lots of food after rapping for them in the kitchen.
Miles has a clean musical record and loves being close to pretty girls. In his high school life, he used to scribble love notes and whisper to them sweet nothings. He would write lots of love letters as well as send girls small gifts plus sweets not to break their hearts. He would only meet these cute girls during holidays and get-together parties. He would hang-out with the girls in different happening places including Fido dido rooftop and Club Pulsation plus others.
Miles loved hanging out with gorgeous girls but one interesting thing about him that makes him different from other musicians and uprising stars is that smoking and quenching his booze thirst has never been his hobby and culture like Red Banton. He has toured school and studied in the so called good schools up to Makerere University where he attained a bachelors degree in tourism. In Bugema Secondary school , the self proclaimed dancehall artist enjoyed his high school life like eating his food (posho and beans) in big plastic buckets. And because the cooks where his good friends, they used to give him lots of food which he could keep in metallic box and feast on in the middle of night. In Bugema he never fell in love with any girl although girls were on his case to shaft them including Juliana and he broke their hearts plus feelings.
Girls started fighting in classes and dormitories because of his sweet lollipop they wanted to taste before they die. Girls were always tempting him during morning and evening preps to surf them in classes and wash rooms. Horny girls could ambush him around boy’s toilets to say hi than breaking their hearts.
