Uganda Police in Kole district is holding a born again pastor and two ushers for allegedly strangling a woman to death while performing “deliverance prayers and miracles.”
The three suspects are Christians from St Peter’s church in Abeli, Kole district.
They have been identified as Oyo Jasper who is the lead pastor, Odong Francis and Ojok Alex.
According to police, these went for deliverance prayers in Agwei village and while there, they organised different prayer sessions and in some of the sessions, they identified a 49-year-old woman whom they claimed had demons and need deliverance.
“It is alleged that they smeared oil on the lady called Atim Milda and started massaging her from the legs to the head. But when they reached the upper parts of the body, they started twisting her head with a lot of force and incidentally broke her neck,” said spokesperson Fred Enanga.
According to witnesses, the victim, now deceased, started crying out loud for help but the pastors claimed she was yelling because of demons.
“However, when they discovered that she was unconscious, they rushed her to their church and later to the hospital where she passed on,” Enanga said.
The three were immediately arrested and charged with murder, awaiting court appearance.
