Singer Omega 256 has come out to address dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu’s allegations that she took over their collaboration ‘See You Tonight’.
Omega, during her recent interview with Galaxy FM, revealed that as friends, they had wanted to do a song for some time, and when the moment came, they agreed to share demos from their music camps in search of a perfect track.
Omega shared two demos, but neither of them felt the songs were a good fit. She then suggested it was Cindy’s turn to present some of her own material.
When Cindy shared, they both thought it was the perfect choice. As a Munyankole, Omega wanted to put in something that identifies her, which was her language.
Omega, together with her management, contacted Ntale, a writer, and rewrote the song, which was entirely in Luganda. Using the same melodies and ideas, they fixed the Runyankole part.

“I was supposed to do my lines and let her do the Luganda parts. She suggested we go line by line, and we ended up doing them together. After like one or two weeks, we started looking at how we would handle it because at the end of the day, one of us had to own the song,” she said.
Omega claimed that her manager got in touch with Cindy’s manager, Aggie, to see the way forward. They suggested that the party that funded the project owned it, and after deliberation, Cindy gave them the go-ahead to fund and own the project. She revealed that she funded the song, and that is how it ended up on her channel.
“I speak all this out of respect for Cindy because she is older than me, my artist, my friend, and she is my president in UMA. If she funded the entire project as she claims, I want us to call the producer and ask him if he never got any money from our side. And I want her to produce all the receipts from the sound engineer who mastered it and the video director. I’m sure she doesn’t even know who mastered the song or how much the video cost,” she said.
Explaining Cindy’s allegations that Omega took 60% of the royalties even after agreeing to a 50-50 split, she explained that during the uploading of the song on digital platforms, Cindy and her team delayed approving the links sent to them, and the system automatically gave Omega 60% as she was the owner of the song.

She also denied allegations of wanting to take all the awards for herself. She noted that the song has so far won two awards, Hipipo, which Cindy took, and the Zzina Award, for which they were given two accolades to be taken by each of them.
