Veteran singer Mesach Ssemakula has expressed his disappointment in social media users and notable figures for criticizing a section of artists, accusing them of using Master Parrot’s death for attention.
On 1 June 2026, Master Parrot was knocked by a speeding car as he attempted to cross the road around Masanafu, along the Kampala Northern Bypass.
Parrot’s death was a shocker to many, who took to social media to express their condolences and their past experiences with him.
As the messages poured in, some social media users heavily criticized several singers like Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleone, King Saha, among others, for allegedly failing to help Parrot while he was still alive but quick to post about his demise.
Bobi Wine was heavily called out after he shared his condolence message on social media since Parrot was under Firebase Crew during their music days.

Parrot was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kamengo, Butembe, Mpigi, and during the speeches, Mesach Ssemakula couldn’t help but react to the criticism. He revealed that they were not the designated parties responsible for taking care of other people in life.

He confirmed that he was present from the time he heard the news, mobilized a committee, and also collected money to help with the funeral preparations. But just because he didn’t post about it or put himself in the camera, many thought he had not done anything to help.
“If you get the news, do what you can do that you think we have not managed to do. It is not that we were trained, nor is it our profession to look after people. Whoever said that didn’t even see us because we were here from the vigil at night, we had a meeting, and also collected the money that was used to do all these. We even had a committee. But you sit behind your cameras calling us out, yet you are not even here. We should stop that and start behaving like the adults we are. They asked me to speak, and I turned it down because there are people who knew him more than I,” he said.
