In a bid to curb water theft in Entebbe National Water and Sewerage Co-operation (NWSC) Boss Dr.Silver Mugisha launched a program dubbed RESAIL – ENTEBBE on Friday March 20 running from march 2015 to August 2015 aimed at offering an opportunity to customers with outstanding bills to pay in six months installments and get reconnected with no charges.
The program also gives an opportunity to customers with illegal connections to report to National Water and Sewerage Co-operation offices for rectification without any fine in the six months. Customers who will fail to comply in the six months will have their pipes uprooted and disconnected from the main source and taken to courts of law. Those who will be discovered with illegal connections will be arrested, fined and prosecuted.
“We are going to increase our intelligence in order to curb water theft in Entebbe. I also appeal to the local communities to work with Entebbe NWSC Management to demand accountability and report all linkages” Dr. Silver Mugisha remarked. He also lauded the press for exposing all clients engaged in water theft.
Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Kawuma Mohamed congratulated NWSC for the good service and castigated all clients engaged in water theft adding that they were denying other rightful clients access to clean water.
