Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, has launched an investigation into the allegations of the sale of National Unity Platform (NUP) party cards by his own brother, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu.
Speaking on Wednesday at a press conference held at the party secretariat, Wine said he has heard allegations of the sale of party flags to candidates and that he has instituted a committee to investigate the matter.
“I have seen the concerning claims from many of our leaders, unfortunately, including senior party leaders. We don’t take such claims lightly. I want to announce that I have instituted a special committee to investigate these claims,” he said.
Wine said they don’t take the allegations lightly and that whoever is found guilty will be sanctioned and disqualified.
“After the findings, there will be sanctions, and those sanctions will go up to disqualification of anybody that is found culpable,” he added.
The probe follows allegations of the sale of party flags by Wine’s brother, Chairman Fred Nyanzi. Latif Ssebagala, one of the aspirants eyeing the Kawempe mayor seat, accused Chairman Nyanzi of favoritism.
The committee instituted to probe the matter constitutes Jackline Jolly Tukamushaba (deputy president, western), Hon. Aisha Kabanda (deputy secretary general), and Dr. Kanaabi Moses, the organizing secretary and the party’s legal secretary.
