The Busiro South Member of Parliament and Super FM Boss Peter Sematimba is suffering from a paining head and intensifying stomach ulcers after High Court nullified and canceled his victory. This follows after his rival and city lawyer Steven Sekigozi pinned him down in court over his academic credentials that failed to add up. High court that was presided over by Court Registrar Mike Ajiji on behalf of Justice Lydia Mugambe at Twed Towers in Kampala on Friday summarized the matter and indicated that Peter Sematimba failed to provide a certificate of equivalence and the one that was issued was done illegally by the National Council Of Higher Education (NCHE) in addition NCHE failed to independently verify the authenticity of his diploma in electrical and computer technology from Pacific Coast Technical Institute in the USA.
After reading the judgment, High court declared the Busiro South Parliamentary seat vacant and has instructed the Electoral Commission to organize fresh elections.
Court also indicated that Sematimba’s nomination and election was illegal because he failed to provide proper academic qualifications. Steven Sekigozi welcomed the judgment and is warming up for the by-election. Meanwhile Sematimba’s didn’t turn up in court and his whereabouts aren’t yet known and efforts to reach him for a comment over court’s judgment proved futile because his known phone numbers have reportedly been switched off. A source in the NRM who spoke to entebbenews on condition of anonymity indicated that Sematimba will have to appeal.
