Speaking on the lengthy vote tallying process, EC Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama blamed it on technical glitches.

“I want to thank you all for your patience, I know that we all have not slept and we waited for things to be worked on. I also commend our teams for working through the night so that all results are appropriately accounted for,” Byabakama said.

The EC boss also reiterated the Commission’s “desire and commitment to work with the people of Uganda to ensure that our elections are peaceful, transparent and whatever the outcome, always respect and abide by the results.”
