The ruling National Resistance Movement party has out-beaten the opposition for the battle for speakership in Entebbe.
This follows after the opposition wing losing the top job to the ruling national party candidate Modesta Tezikyabbiri for the speakership job on Tuesday.

It’s was real tag of war as the ruling national party played it’s cards well in the house after the opposition side failing to push their own strong hold.
Ssewankambo was one of the biggest fish from the opposition side lost the seat to NRM party diehard Modesta with a historical experience in municipal council affairs.
Modesta has previously acted as deputy municipal council at one moment before bouncing back into the political affairs to represent the silent minority group of the disabled.
The opposition wing had earlier agreed to rally behind democrat Ssewakambo Innocent and snaked him up before losing the seat with 19 councilors against the 11 councilors of the ruling national party (NRM).
There was drama as some of the opposition councilors ‘lost’ their heads and voted ruling national party candidate Modesta Tekyabbiri as speaker to the house of lords (2021-2025) after all the donkey work from the opposition side.
Modesta scored 14votes and her rival Ssewakambo Innocent scored 10votes and one remaining vote was put to waste.
The council executive has five councilors from the National Unity Platform, eleven councilors from ruling NRM party while nine councilors are from the Democratic Party.
The opposition side was bailed out by one Chendiko Florence of the National Unity Platform to the second in command also Deputy Speaker to the house of lords commanded by the newly elected Mayor Fabrice Brad Rulinda.
Councilor Yasin Kyeyune lost the speakership-bait on the last minute to one Ssewakambo Innocent and both are from the Democratic party.
One biggest question stands will the National Unity Platform get to the ‘promised land’ with their lead commander and fresh kid on the block Charles Kabwama formerly of the Democratic Party.
