NRM party Vice Chairperson Herman Kiruwero Kasozi has smelt a rat and pulled out of the mayoral race in Entebbe.
The senior party chief and second in command to former mayor Stephen Kabuye made the revelation at a meeting with party members following the heated race involving Division ‘A’ chairman Micheal Kabwama Mutebi and Fabrice Rulinda.
This follows a closed door meeting with a few party members at a hide out in the town suburbs where the party supremo made the decision to pull-out of the mayoral race ahead of the 2021 scientific elections.
The party chief quit the mayoral race to give room to two contestants within the party. Inside sources have revealed that Kasozi Kiruwero has fronted Micheal Kabwama Mutebi and Fabrice Rulinda to contest for the mayoral seat in the party ahead of time despite the party factions and in fighting from the youth brigades which has costed the party in every election. Highly placed sources have revealed that the party has lost several credible leaders because of the running battles against new breeds of leaders.
The party leadership is not taking initiative of mentoring or pushing young leaders for better tomorrow because of selfishness and hypocrisy. The party mayoral candidates will be contesting against several others including the incumbent Mayor Vicent Kayanja Depaul and one Ken Ssimbwa also new kid on the block.
