The Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement has confirmed Richard Todwong as the Secretary General of the ruling party and also nominated former State Minister of Education, Rosemary Sseninde the Director of Mobilization.
The CEC meeting chaired by the party Chairman President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe on Wednesday had four agendas which also included the appointment of Committee Chairpersons.
“The 5th Meeting of the 4th Central Executive Committee (CEC) held on Wednesday 7th July 2021 at State House Entebbe and Presided over by the Party National Chairperson H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni discussed and resolved on a number of issues that included the approval of the appointment of Rt. Hon Richard Awany Todwong as the Party Secretary General, Hon Rose Namayanja Nsereko (Deputy Secretary General and Hon Barbra Nekesa Oundo as the new National Treasurer,” said a statement released by the party.
Sseninde has been named to replace the departed East African Legislative Assembly member, Mathias Kasamba, as Director of Mobilization.
“Hon. Rosemary Sseninde was also nominated and approved as the new Director for Mobilization, Training & Cadre Development,” added the statement.
The Chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of the sessional and sectoral committees of Parliament have also been approved.
“CEC also approved names of the Chairpersons, Deputy Chairpersons and Members of the Parliamentary Standing and Sessional Committees of the 11th Parliament,” said the statement.
Meanwhile members of CEC further directed the NRM Electoral Commission to start the process of expression of interests for the by-election of the EALA representative replacing the late Kasamba and the election of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus Executive of the 11th Parliament.
