As the Nkumba University students rioted over policies that the Academic Registrar Christine Obonyo had introduced. Several University administrators including Guild President Byarugaba Julius decided to go into hiding and also switched off their mobile phones as they couldn’t handle the nasty situation.
The only top University administrator who was available during the riots was Dean of students David Kasasa who locked himself in his office after the rowdy students threatened to tear him apart.
The poor fat bellied Dean inhaled several amounts of tear gas which chocked his lungs and collapsed in his office after becoming unconscious from a heart attack. The Red Cross was alerted and rushed him to hospital in an ambulance where he received first aid.
Mean While the University was closed indefinitely on Wednesday November 19.
