The Nkumba University Academic Registrar Christine Obonyo has been working day and night to refurbish and clear the Institution’s name and image ever since she took over office a couple of months ago. The Nkumba University top officer is spending sleepless nights cleaning up the mess she found at the academic tower. A highly placed source around the University corridors revealed that Obonyo halted the awarding of academic transcripts to several graduands after she unearthed a rotten system where university officials were smuggling in names of unidentified people in the graduation lists and yet they had never stepped in class or even attended any single lecture. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that Christine Obonyo ordered for a forensic audit into the whole graduation system and discovered that previous transcripts had lots of spelling errors and mistakes on them.
A new firm was awarded the contract to print academic transcripts after university printing department officials were making lots of mistakes on the transcripts plus printing transcripts for ghost students. A source at the University disclosed that the new transcripts will have several new features to avoid being forged by crafty people. Several students who graduated a few years ago have been affected over the matter and will have to wait for the new transcripts to be completed.
