The Minister of Works and Transport, Monica Ntege Azuba, has set tough targets for the new Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) board members, warning that Government will not compromise on integrity and hard work.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new board on Thursday morning at Serena Hotel, Azuba said key among the targets, is the need to increase financial aviation revenues, which currently stand at sh199b, by 20%.

“I wish to charge you with the following tasks which I hope you will accomplish over your three-year term. Increase the financial revenues from the current sh199 billion by at least 20%,” she said, calling upon the board members to work closely with CAA management team to ensure that key government projects such the expansion of the Entebbe international Airport, construction of Kabaale International Airport in Hoima and the fast-tracking of the national carrier are implemented during their three-year tenure.

The eight-member CAA board will be chaired by Eng. Edward Mike Ndawula. Former Bunya East MP, James Kubeketerya and former Vision Group chief finance officer, Zubair Musoke Musaayi are also members of the board. Other members include, Angella Kiryabwire Kayima, Asiimwe Rwekikiga, Eng. Mackenzie Ogweng, Olive Birungi Lumonya and Enock Rukidi.

“These responsibilities are not small. They call for men and women of high caliber and strong integrity,” Azuba said.

Speaking on behalf of the board members, Ndawula pledge to deliver the demands, especially the revival of the home-based airline, which Cabinet recently approved.
