As Uganda warms up for the 40th Anniversary of the Raid on Entebbe to honor the several lives that were lost when Israeli commandos raided Entebbe Airport in 1976 to rescue over 105 Israeli hostages that had been held by two members of the Popular Front For the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP-EO) and two members of the German Revolutionary Cells. The hijackers had the stated objective to free 40 Palestinian and affiliated militants imprisoned in Israel and 13 prisoners in four other countries in exchange for the hostages. The Air France flight that had originated from Tel Aviv, Israeli with over 248 passengers on board and was destined to Paris, France was hijacked and diverted to Entebbe Airport. Former President Idi Amin welcomed the Hijackers but the Israeli government swung into action and dispatched commandos who were led by Late Jonathan Netanyahu, Benjamin Netanyahu’s elder brother to rescue their own. After landing at Entebbe Airport, the Israeli commandos swung into action and exchanged gunfire with Amin’s boys and Jonathan Netanyahu was shot dead alongside several others including Amin’s boys.
To mark the 40 year historic anniversary, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be jetting in at Entebbe International Airport on Monday for a two day state visit to the pearl of Africa and is expected to discuss several issues with his Ugandan Counterpart President Yoweri Museveni including bilateral deals. We have highly established that Netanyahu has already dispatched an advance security team that has been combing the whole Airport to avoid anything going wrong.
