The National Enviromental Management Authourity has given three weeks ultimatum to residents in Namiiro swamp to vacate from the wetland in Entebbe.This follows after the environmental watch-dog executive director, Dr. Tom O.Okurut writing to residents of Lugonjo Nakiwogo 21days to vacate from the wetland below the expedicto Nsubuga road.In a letter dated June 8th 2020,the residents have been given only weeks to vacate from the swamp after carrying out the environmental impact assessment report pinning residents including depositing murram in the wetland and erecting illegal structures in the swamp. The letter reads that these activites are contrary to the National Enviroment Act No. 5 of 2019 and therefore all residents should vacate the wetland from the date of receipt of this restoration order with in which to comply. Your are therefore ordered to comply with the following environmental restoration orders including to stop immediately any further soil/murram dumping in the wetland and demolish all structures erected in the wetland. Over one thousand residents are to be affected following the eviction from the wetland.Watch the space
