Musician Mikie Wine has opened up about following his big brother Bobi Wine’s footsteps into politics.
Mikie Wine, real name Michael Mukwaya, sat down on Deep Talk and cleared the air, defining politics as a calling that he doesn’t have yet.
Years back, Mikie Wine shared a photo of himself smartly dressed in a suit and a red People Power beret. He followed it up with a lengthy post explaining the history of leadership in his family and the ability to play his role well if given the chance.
Social media users concluded that he was eyeing the Kyadondo East Constituency parliamentary seat, something he strongly denied.
Mikie Wine noted that his message was taken out of context by people, and that the agenda was pushed by those who wished he would take over Bobi Wine’s place in office.
People wanted that for me because I was staying there. But I only uploaded a photo of myself in a suit, and because people saw me in a serious look with the beret from my party, they started spreading the rumour.

But when they asked me about it, I told them I will always cross that bridge when I get there. Besides, politics is a calling, and I always want my work to be a calling. If it is not your calling, you cannot make the right decision at the right time, he said.
