
The two bosses of Middle East Consultants Ltd, a labor export agency in Uganda, were freed this week on tough bail conditions set by court and warned against interfering with police investigations.
The duo who include Godfrey Kyalimpa (Recruitment and vetting officer)and Benon Kunywana (General Manager) were freed after paying cash bail amounting to Shs 2m each, in addition to depositing their original passports with court while their sureties each was granted non-cash bail worth Shs 5m and ordered to deposit their original national identity cards in court.
The duo who had been on remand for over a week were granted bail by Entebbe Chief Magistrate Mary Babirye, who strongly warned them against interfering with police investigations or else they risk counselling their bails.
Prosecution led by Jean Nareeba, alleges that on February, 12, 2019 between Kampala City and Entebbe International Airport a, Godfrey Kyalimpa 48 and Benon Kunywana 36, allegedly produced, printed, issued, and distributed a document relating to immigration to wit clearance list of over 50 migrant workers purportedly from the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.
Prosecution also alleges that in same year and same place, the accused persons uttered forged documents bearing the signature of Mr. Moses Egulu with the intention to traffic over 50 migrant workers to Middle East or Arab countries.
Meanwhile, the accused persons will return to court on October,7, 2019 for mention of their five counts relating to promoting traffic in persons contrary to section7(b) of the prevention of Trafficking in persons Act 2009.
