“how deadly Kayanja squashed Kabwama’ s fishy deal to sell gov’t land to  minister”

Two senior politicians are fighting each other over a fishy deal to grab the government land in Entebbe municipality. Mayor Vincent Kayanja Depaul and division ‘A’ chairman Micheal Kabwama Mutebi  are bickering over the deal to grab the government land located next to the division ‘A’ head offices  along the Portal road, Plot 10-12.

This follows after   the division executive committee  proposing to the municipal authourities to allocate the government land to former health state minister Alex Kamugisha construct a medical facility.

In a letter dated 12th July 2017, the division chairman proposed the land to be allocated to the former minister for medical facility  to serve the greater population in Entebbe.

And in another letter dated 5th March 2020, the division chairman further highlighted the need to allocate the contested land to a prospective investor to construct a medical facility to improve on the health service provision within the municipality.

He added that the contested land was allocated to Dr Alex Kamugisha in 2007 by the predecessors and to his surprise since then, the local investor has never been allocated the proclaimed land.

In a letter dated March 12th 2020, the Mayor Vicent Kayanja Depaul squashed the division chairman’s proposal to allocate the government land to a  local investor.

In a letter copied to the Local government minister, Mayor Kayanja said that the Entebbe Municipal Council decided to develop the said land and construct a public library, resource centre and division offices on its land.

He added that the municipal council budgeted six hundred fifty million shilling (shs 650M) with a top-up  of fifty million shillings (shs50M) from local revenue towards the construction of the new storied division offices which has sparked a bitter row with in the municipal authorities.

The spark of the fire has reached the epic with the six hundred million shillings (shs600M) compensation fund from UNRA that has been earmarked towards the construction of the new  division offices now nearing completion.

The construction of the division offices was started earlier this year following a battle up between the Mayor Vincent Kayanja Depaul and Division ‘A’ chairman Micheal Kabwama Mutebi with each pointing fingers at each other over the development.(By Sr. PEACOCK)
