Mayor Vincent Kayanja Depaul is under attack over the Nakiwogo Banga playground land row in Entebbe.
This follows after the division ‘A’ chairman Micheal Kabwama Nyamayalwo pointing fingers at the mayor over the land row at the football playground opposite the SFC army barracks in Nakiwogo Banga area following the re-greening and fencing-off of the government owned land.
The development has sparked bitter row after some individuals claiming part of the land with titles in their names. The municipal council has budgeted over one hundred million shillings (shs100M) to be spent in the development of the playground including the twenty million shillings (shs20M) of re-greening plus chain-link fence.

The division chairman is at logger heads with the mayor over the project development after some individuals claiming part of the government owned land with tittles and it’s not yet clear how these individuals acquired tittles at the playground.
Kabwama while meeting residents blamed the municipal authorities over shielding encroachers and not questioning tittles on the government owned land.Councilor Jimmy Mutabazi said during the press briefing that it’s not clear how individuals acquired land tittles on the playground. Kabwama pledged with councilors before his term in office expires to develop to different sports facilities including the works playground.
He added that the contractor has delayed to start on the Nakiwogo Banga playground and the rain season is running down which will be costly to the contractor including watering the green vegetation. Part of land is under ground leveling and will be fenced-off to prevent further encroachment although it’s not yet clear whether the municipal council has a land tittle for the remaining space.
Town clerk Charles Magumba said in a recent report that over 20 government property land tittles have been secured.
