The KIU Titans are gearing up for a crucial match against the Namuwongo Blazers at the Lugogo Indoor Arena this evening.
This highly anticipated game promises to be a thrilling classic, with both teams showcasing impressive second-round records. The Titans have won all six of their second-round games, while the Blazers have an undefeated streak of seven.
Speaking to club media, Titans’ shooting guard Ahmed Kassa expressed the team’s readiness and confidence.
“Everyone is energetic, ready for the game, and whatever comes, we are ready for the battle to take the game home,” Kassa stated.
He acknowledged the strong performance of the Namuwongo Blazers but emphasized that the Titans’ preparation gives them an advantage.
“We’re aware of their good run, but our preparation is enough to give us an edge. If we play our game well, share the ball, and take good shots, we will take the win home,” Kassa added.
Head Coach Julius Lutwama emphasized that the team’s strategy focuses on the collective strength of the Namblazers rather than individual players.
“We are not planning for an individual or individuals; we are planning for a team. We will face the team the way it comes to us, but not as individuals,” Lutwama explained.
Reflecting on their narrow 59-63 loss to the Namblazers in the first round, Lutwama remained optimistic, stating that this past defeat does not define the Titans.
The Titans will be bolstered by the return of Ivan Lumanyika, who has yet to feature in any second-round games. Additionally, new signing Zurri Campbell has impressed in his first two games and will be looking to continue his strong performance.
The game will be live on NBS Sport starting at 9 PM.
