Buganda Kingdom Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged all people who support Buganda Kingdom to continue supporting the Kingdom’s projects that geared towards eradicating poverty. The Katikiro who was speaking at Bulange Mengo during the familiarization tour of Masengere building construction project also called on Buganda Kingdom supporters to work hard for the Kingdom to ensure that it’s uplifted economically.
The Katikiro also added that gone are the days when Buganda Kingdom used to work for it’s people. “It’s you (Baganda) to work hard for the Kingdom and not the Kingdom to work for you” he said.
Katikiro Mayiga also urged Baganda not to forget their culture and the Luganda Language adding that many have failed to believe in their culture.
He also brought warm greetings from people abroad where he had travelled to fundraise for Ettoffalli. We were able to fundraise from the United Kingdom (Shs 101m), Sweden (Shs 43m), Canada (Shs 17m), Boston (345m) and other United states Shs 14m and USD 13000. “The Baganda living abroad welcomed us maasively and Nagginda launched a Kisakate in Canada”.
The Katikiro also collected Shs 3.7m during the familiarization tour. “As you can see the Masengere building construction still needs more money and I appeal to all of you to continue supporting the kingdom’s projects. There is hope that this construction project will be completed very soon” the Katikiro added.
He also lashed out at people who continue to insult and underestimate the power of the Kingdom. He also called on the people to be creative and learn how to start income generating projects. The Katikiro also warned lazy people who don’t work and always give excuses adding that the Kabaka Mutebi’s reign is for people who are hardworking and dedicated to serving their Kingdom.
