Veteran singer Juliana Kanyomozi has revealed that she would love to engage in a music battle with fellow singer Iryn Namubiru.
Over the years, music battles have steadily gained popularity in the Ugandan music industry, serving as a platform for artists not only to earn income but also to assert their dominance over their rivals.
For many musicians, these showdowns have become the ultimate test of popularity, influence, and fan support, often settling long-standing debates about who commands the biggest following.
Juliana, while appearing in a question and Answer session with Galaxy TV, was given three options: Sheebah Karungi, Cindy Sanyu, and Iryn Namubiru to choose one whom she could confidently battle it out with on stage.
She confidently chose Iryn Namubiru. She, however, chose to use a lighter word for it to avoid misconceptions around music battles that suggest that the artists involved always have beef.

Giving reasons for her choice, Juliana explained that she would love to share the same stage with her once groupmate in celebration of good music.
“I would battle Iryn. Although I do not like that word, yeah, I would choose Iryn. I do not like the word battle, and I do not know why you people are obsessed with that word, but I would stand on the same stage with Iryn and celebrate a night of music,” she said.

Juliana and Iryn were in the same girl group, I-Jay, back in the early 2000s, and treated millennials with a couple of love songs. They later broke up, choosing to go their separate ways with just one album named ‘WAIT’. The album featured songs such as ‘Vivi La Vie’ and ‘Not Good Enough’.
@galaxytvug I’d love to have a battle with Iryn Namubiru. One fan got so upset with me that they wrote a whole paragraph, but I just kept it cool. – Juliana Kanyomozi #TheDeepTalk | @Roger Otis ♬ original sound – Galaxy TV Jikonkone
