Ugandan jazz saxophonist Michael Kitanda has released his new song, Say No More, the first track on his album Sax Appeal.
Born in Mulago, Kampala, where his musical journey began at age seven, Michael Kitanda started playing trumpet alongside his brother, Happy Kyazze, now one of Kampala’s most respected and in-demand saxophonists and performers.
In 2009, Kitanda transitioned to the saxophone, collaborating with renowned artists like Jose Chameleone, Isaiah Katumwa, Myko Ouma, and Joseph Sax.
His passion for music was ignited at Omega Primary School, famous for its brass band, shaping his lifelong musical dedication.
Further mentorship came from his brother, Dr. Kagumba Andrew (PhD), who refined Kitanda’s craft during his studies at St. Joseph’s Naggalama.

Kitanda rose to prominence performing with top Ugandan bands such as Baxmba Waves, Qwela Band, and Janzi Band.
He has also shared global stages with international jazz icons, including the legendary Norman Brown and virtuoso bassist Richard Bona.
Now 32, Kitanda has released a new single, “Say No More,” a heartfelt melody celebrating the power of love.
He describes the song as an expression of love best shared through music, capturing deep emotion in smooth saxophone tones.
Kitanda plans to release his album “Sax Appeal,” dropping a new single every two weeks on all major streaming platforms.
