Tyson Fury has announced that he is “back in the gym” preparing for his highly anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for December 21 in Saudi Arabia. The rematch follows Fury’s first professional defeat last month, where he lost to Usyk in a split decision.
Fury, 35, is determined to reclaim his status, posting a video on Instagram of him training on a heavy bag. “I’ve done everything in boxing but I ain’t come back from a loss,” Fury stated. “I relish it, the chance to come back and redeem myself. December 21st is all me, undisputed here we come.”
The rematch, set six months from now, has Fury eagerly counting down the days until he can achieve “redemption.” In their previous bout, Fury was ahead on points until Usyk knocked him down in the ninth round, a moment that swayed two of the three judges in Usyk’s favor.
Despite the announcement of the rematch, there is still doubt whether the undisputed title will be on the line. The IBF is considering a request from Usyk to retain his title, with potential implications depending on their decision.
Usyk, 36, has made history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era, a title last held by Lennox Lewis nearly 25 years ago.
