The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has suspended the remaining fixtures for the 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season until further notice.
This follows President Museveni’s address on the situation around the Coronavirus pandemic where sports activities were subjected to a total lockdown for the next 42 days.
“Fufa wishes to announce that all Star Times UPL matches scheduled for Saturday 19th June 2021 and Sunday 20th June 2021 have been postponed,” reads part of the statement from the national FA.
“Fufa will give further guidance on the remaining match days in the near future,” the statement added.
It should be remembered that last season was prematurely ended in the same scenario where FUFA applied the 75 percent rule to declare Vipers Sports Club the league champions with five rounds of matches left to play.
In case the current health situation persists, Express will be declared UPL winners for the seventh time.
The Red Eagles are currently top of the 16-team log with 58 points from 26 games. With four games remaining to climax the regular season, they could be declared champions since 75% of the season has been completed.
URA FC sits in the second position on 57 points while title holders Vipers SC are third placed on 56 points.
