Fred Kajoba, the former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and coach, was laid to rest on Sunday, May 20, at his ancestral home in Senya. Kajoba, aged 54, passed away in Tanzania, where he was working as the goalkeeping coach for Ihefu SC, a top-flight football club.

Kajoba had a distinguished career in Ugandan football, notably serving as the head coach for Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC. His contributions to football, particularly in nurturing goalkeepers at both the national and club levels, were widely recognized and respected.

The burial ceremony was attended by numerous mourners, including Hon. Richard Lumu of the Mityana South constituency, who represented the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt Hon. Anitah Among. Hon. Lumu conveyed the Speaker’s heartfelt condolences and acknowledged Kajoba’s significant impact on Ugandan football.

“Mr. Kajoba’s commitment, dedication, and zeal in nurturing great goalkeepers at both the national team and club level in Uganda is evident. I convey my condolences, those of my family, and the legislature to the bereaved family, people of Mityana, the sporting fraternity, and Uganda at large. May the ever Merciful Lord grant Mr. Kajoba eternal rest,” read part of the Speaker’s message.
